The following question came from Fred

came across your sailplanes via Rcgroups.com. I'm interested in a 2m with greater performance than what I am flying now. Can you please tell me the functions of the five servos. I can figure out 4 but not 5.

I'm not sure where you heard about "five servos" for the Chrysalis, but in fact it only takes four, and two of those (the spoilers) are on a "Y" connector on the same channel.

You do need a 5-channel radio for the electric 2-M Chrysalis, but you won't use all five channels:

1. elevator, on the elevator channel.

2. rudder, plugged into the aileron channel because the rudder is the primary roll control on this airplane.

(or mixed ruddervators on those two channels in the case of the V tail)

For sport flying:

3. Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) for the motor, operated by the throttle channel, so you can use part throttle for cruising around, and to motor back home if you get too far downwind.

5. Both spoiler servos on a "Y" connector to the landing gear switch channel. This gives you the choice of spoilers fully open or spoilers closed, which means you may need to use a little bit of throttle on landing for glide path control. If you have a six-channel transmitter, you could run the spoilers on the slider control for channel six, which would give you the capability for partial spoilers.

Note that the "rudder" channel on your transmitter is not used.

For contest flying, where you have no need for partial throttle, but do need precise glide-path control on landing while keeping the motor completely shut off, it makes more sense to put the spoilers on the throttle stick, and the motor on the landing gear switch.

I hope this helps, but please don't hesitate to ask if you need more information!
