I've just started to lay out the wings for my Chrysalis 2M and have a
question/problem. When I set down the trailing edge stock, the notches do
not line up on the the plans.
I've tried all four pieces of stock in all
positions (let and rignt wings). All of the te stock slots line up with
each other (ie: they all match - all cut the same). I've also matched the
laser webs to the plans and they match up - fitting the rib spacing on the
plans.

This is what happens when you try to make airplanes from trees, especially
balsa trees. The fact that the plans are also made from trees doesn't help.
All of these things matched perfectly when we made the masters for the
plans, and we even used a piece of actual trailing edge stock as a guage to
make sure the plans and the laserwebs would match the trailing edges.
Still, one little change in the humidity at the customer's shop and it's
all for nought. We're doing everything possible to minimize this, but I'm
afraid that as long as it's made of wood, this will be a problem.
Since everything matches except the trailing edges, I'd recommend getting a
piece of 1/16" square balsa strip, use it to plug the original notches (use
thin C/A), sand it all smooth and cut new notches to match the laserwebs.
Given a choice of going by the laserwebs, the trailing edges or the plans,
the laserwebs should be the most accurate, as well as the most difficult to
alter. I'd use them as the guage, and match everything else to them.
We discussed using gussets on the tail ends of the ribs, so we wouldn't
need the notches, but decided that would add too much work for the builder.
I'm starting to have second thoughts about that!
