The following question came from William Snow

Even if not winching would the carbon be a good add on the Chrysalis E?

What if one has to spiral downward to get out of a thermal. Peace of mind.

From : Don Stackhouse

That shouldn't be a problem, for either the electric or the sailplane version. It's winch launching that causes the trouble.

The stock Chrysalis 2-M can be winch launched just fine without carbon in the spars. Our customers in Australia and New Zealand, where they are used to wooden sailplanes, winched the original version with no problems. However, in America we typically use less stretchy winch line (which is much less forgiving in gusts), and as a group we tend to have "heavy feet" on the winch pedal.

In addition, many of the folks here who do have experience winching wooden saiplanes got it form planes like the ubiquitous "Gentle Lady". Nothing wrong with that, it's a fine airplane. However, the stock wing spars on the 2-M Chrysalis are approximately 5.2 times stronger than a Gentle Lady's, and that means they are also about that much stiffer. The problem is that many folks who winched Gentle Lady's got used to judging their line tension by how far the wings were bending. If you get that much deflection in the wings of a 2-M Chrysalis, you're looking at some really serious line tension. Add to that the much better high speed performance, the stiffer bolt-on wing attachment of the MkII, and a gust on tow, and it's now possible to really load things up. It's sort of like how a turbocharged sports car has more power and performance than a station wagon, but that means it's also easier to get yourself in over your head in certain situations (such as winch-launching with a heavy pedal-foot and stiff towline on a gusty day). The carbon helps deal with those situations.
