The following question came from Don Ressler dldress@ptd.net" dldress@ptd.net )

Do you sell wing kits for the Chrysalis? I realize the price of the whole kit is not very expensive. I have had problems with my wing covering shrinking over time and it is causing the ribs to bow into "S" shapes.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

I'd like to add to Joe's comments. One way to avoid some of the problems with rib buckling when shrinking the covering is to stick the covering to the rib edges and the entire surface of the trailing edge stock BEFORE shrinking the covering over the open areas. Do the shrinking gradually, so that you don't have any places where the covering gets very tight in one spot while it's still completely loose on the opposite side or in the adjacent areas. This helps support the ribs against the pull of the covering and prevent buckling. Also, don't shrink the covering any more than necessary to get it snug and wrinkle free (of course I bet you already knew that!).

You may be able to carefully cut away the covering from the section of your present wing where the ribs are bowed, then straighten out the ribs (heat the wood with your covering iron to make it bend easier and hold its shape afterwards). Re-cover the repaired areas using the method described above, re-set the washout and go fly!

I hope this helps!
