The following question came from Jon Syvertson

What are the differences between a V-tail and conventional tail Chrysalis?

From : Don Stackhouse

Jon,

Performance and handling wise the two styles of tail are very similar, I doubt that the average sailplane sport flyer could discern the difference. There is a SLIGHT performance edge in favor of the V-tail. Weight wise, the V-tail is lighter, and you will therefore have an easier time getting c/g to come out right without ballast, etc. (although the extra weight of an on-board mixer will probably cancel that out if you don't have trasmitter mixing available). The V-tail will also have less tendency to get caught on things during landing, tends to hold the tail clear of the ground during cartwheels, and generally seems to be more durable. It's also easier to fit into the back seat of a car. Overall I prefer the V-tail, but they both work well.
