I've owned 3 of your gliders and love them all, 2 HL Chrysalis and 1 Chrysalis 2M.
I decided that I really prefer the HL planes, and decided to perhaps get one your composite versions.
I had always wanted a monarch and now that I'm finally done with College and can afford one, I
found your site again. I noticed that you no longer offered the Monarch, and I was just wondering
what is better about the Spectre HLG compared to the Monarch HLG.

Lots of things, but in a nutshell:
Better low speed performance
Better L/D and range
Better penetration
Better launch height
Better handling at all speeds
Better visual feedback of what's going on in the air it's flying through
Better stability
Easier to manufacture, and better manufacturing consistency. The Monarchs
were much more labor intensive to manufacture. If we kept on making the
Monarch designs in their final forms, we would have to raise their price to
something quite a bit higher than what we sell the Spectres for in order to
make an honest profit. At that price, no one would buy them. At anything
less than that price, we would sooner or later have to go out of business.
With the Spectre series, you get a substantially better airplane, for an
excellent price. The Monarch tooling was wearing out, and there wasn't any
good reason to invest in the new tooling required to keep the Monarchs in
production. We did consider keeping the Monarch name for the new design.
However, the Monarch and Wizard series had gone through approx. nine
different major revisions, and we decided it was time for a new name.
