The following question came from J.P. Morere

How can I convert a Monarch C model to a Monarch D?

...I have recently aquired a Monarch "C" kit (still in the box - only fondled, not assembled) and wondered what I might/could/should do to convert it to the "D" model. Would just purchasing the D-Lite wing do, or do I need to get the new tail too?

It's possible to convert an un-built 'C' into something close to a 'D' with just the new wing, but there is a tradeoff. The new fuselage (which just went into production in July) is lighter (about .25 ounces), stiffer and stronger than the ones in the 'C' and earlier 'D' kits. Also, the new tails are lighter and slightly different in shape and area, but not by a huge amount.

If you use the old tail, increase the dihedral to 40 degrees from horizontal on each side (i.e.: 100 degree angle between the two panels). This will not be exactly the same as the new tail, but it will be close.
