The following suggestion came from Dick Proseus

Do you have any tips for neutralizing the ruddervators when installing a radio in a Monarch D?

From : Dick Proseus

I would like to pass along a construction tip you may have already considered. It concerns working with the V-tail. I have found control hook-up to be easy as follows:

1. Mark and cut angles at the root of the ruddervators per the plans.
2. The horns and pushrods may be connected at the V, threaded rods/clevices attached at the servo end, and the servo properly positioned in the fuse for neutral control position WITHOUT making the tip cut of the control surface. This holds the surface at neutral throughout the installation process.

Computer TX's allow one to adjust the neutral, but by cutting the control surface free at the tip after all is installed eliminates this and thus any differential throw that might be incurred by the servo arm not being close to 90 degrees relative to the pushrod when the surface and servo are in the neutral position. Control surface deflection was at least +/- 3/4" with a CS21 type servo with no mechanical binding or strain on the servos. Way more than needed.

The not cutting the control surface free until last was just a piece of inspiration that happened to work...at least for me any my equipment installation techniques.

With all the MHLG's coming out, I am happy to hear about your Nymph. I await your announcement of its availability as I will probably order one.

Regards,
Dick Proseus
