The following question came from Alfredo Marquez

How are those "skin hinges" made ?

From : Joe Hahn

Hello Alfredo.

A skin hinge is one in which the outer "skin" of a surface is used as a hinge. In the case of our 2 meter and Wizard ships we simply remove a narrow band of skin from the bottom of the wing/tail, pick out the foam to the inner surface of the upper skin, and that is it! The skin itself flexes as the hinge--works great!!! It also provides a smoother bend in a surface than conventional hinging methods, improving the aerodynamic characteristics of the system.

Thanks,

Joe Hahn
