The following question came from Bill Conkling " )

How is it best to apply the insignias to my Roadkill model?

I appreciate the quick response to my email. I think I heard you say that you prited the markings on label stock. I am going to try to print on some of the water-slide dacal stock, it may save some weight. I'll let you know what happens.

I'd recommend against that, the printer relies on the color of the paper to create the color white, such as in the Chinese insignias. I used label stock, but you could also use regular bond paper (15# should be adequate, and lighter than the usual 20#), then stick it on with 3-M 77 or something similar. If you don't go overboard with the glue, it should be lighter than label stock. A thin strip of Balsaloc or Balsarite just around the edges and then ironed-on should also work.

I believe it was Thayer Syme who told me he printed insignias for his P-38 on bond paper, then sanded the back side of the paper to save some more weight. I asked him about using tissue instead, but he pointed out that tissue does not have the necessary opacity.
