The following question came from Scot " )

Thanks for all the excellent information! I'm assuming and hoping that the Cub will fly at about the same speed as a GWS Pico Stick or something similar?

From : Don Stackhouse

Similar, sort of. The Cub has good low speed handling, and economy cruise speed is probably around 9-12 mph. It looks a little faster than a Pico Stick because it's a shorter plane. The same airspeed equates to a greater number of fuselage lengths per second, and therefore visually looks faster. However, the roll rate is much better than a Pico Stick and the turning radius is similar, so I'm comfortable flying it in areas as small or smaller than where I would fly a Pico Stick. The Jenny and the Curtiss-Wright Junior are similar in this regard.

The speed range of the Cub is much wider than the Pico Stick, particularly at the top end of the airspeed envelope. Of the single-motor RK models the Cub is the most efficient, and also has the widest speed range, somewhat like the role the Electra holds in the twin-motor RK models. I've flown it in measured winds of 12 knots gusting to 15 with no problems.

The Junior is almost as good as the Cub (I've flown it in 10 gusting to 12, and it might handle a bit more), but I'd rate the Jenny ok in winds up to about 8-10 max. All those wings and struts limit the top speed.
