Don fields some questions on the Roadkill B-17...
What do you recommend for a battery?

It will fly fine on a 7-cell 230 mah NiMH pack like we use in our twins, but flight times are short. We've had excellent results with a 6-cell 600 mah NiMH pack. Our absolute favorite setup right now is a 2-cell 1200 mah E-tec brand Li-poly battery, 20% more power at full throttle, significantly less weight and twice the capacity.
It takes 3 servos, correct?
Sort of, it takes 3 to 4 plus the ESC for throttle. The B-17 is set up for separate rudder and ailerons, in other words std. full-house setup.
We use the 4th servo on channel 5 (retract switch) to operate the bomb release.
Will it fly in a gymnasium setting, or does it need something bigger?
I have flown it in a basketball court (in fact that was the first time I ever flew it, and it was freshly repaired and out of trim to boot!), but it wasn't comfortable. The turning radius is very tight, but the roll rate is "scale-like". It takes a little time to roll in and out of a turn. If you put it in a continuous circle it would handle a basketball court (even half a basketball court!), other than having to land on one wheel in a turn. It's a bit like the DC-3 in that regard, although it can fly quite a bit slower and turn tighter than the DC-3. However, it's really better in larger rooms and outdoors. There is lots of reserve power, and it's big enough with big enough wheels to ROG off of really short, smooth grass.
Low speed stability and handling is about like the Cub or the Electra other than the slow roll rate. It does need coordinated use of rudder with the ailerons, probably an excellent advanced or scale trainer in that regard. It WILL teach you to use both sticks! It looks extremely realistic in flight, both in terms of speed and flight path characteristics (climb angles, stability, etc.). Lots of reserve power, on smooth surfaces half-throttle is plenty for takeoff. Altogether it's rock solid in flight and on the ground, just remember that it needs a little room to roll into or out of a bank, just like the real one.
