The following question came from " )

On the Spitfire, how do you get the hardwood piece to follow the leading edge contour?

From : Don Stackhouse

Just start at the root, glue the first inch or so in place with the strip and the lower wing skin lying flat on a piece of waxed paper on the table top. Hold the balsa lower wing skin in place and flex the next inch or two of the basswood around to match the leading edge of the balsa, glue that in place, do the next inch or two the same way and so on till it's glued all the way to the tip. Just make sure you hold the slotted balsa skin in position and bend the basswood to match it, so you don't cause the slots for the ribs to spread open. It's really not difficult, and the basswood is flexible enough that I've always done it dry, no soaking in water required. Just do it patiently a little at a time, starting at the root, and you'll do fine.
