The following question came from Ian Dale: "Ian.D.Dale@btinternet.com" Ian.D.Dale@btinternet.com )

Hi. Bit confused as to how the bass strip should be fixed to the front part of the wing leading edge on the Spitfire. Does it form an L so that the top wing skin sheet then butts up to it?

From : Don Stackhouse

No, the wide (1/8") dimension of the basswood strip should be parallel to the surface of the lower wing skin (the one with the notches in it for the ribs). Whne the ribs are fully seated in their slots, there will be a small lip (about 1/64", 0.04 mm) of the basswood strip edge sticking out ahead of the nose of the rib. The upper wing skin will rest on this lip, then curl back over the upper edges of the ribs.
