The following question came from Marc pignolos@cs.com" )

I am trying to build the Roadkill Series Spitfire and I can't figure out what panel #5 on page one of the directions means.

From : Don Stackhouse

The Spitfire's elliptical wing shape requires spacers on the bottoms of the ribs in order to get the upper wing skin to lay down smoothly in steps #2-4. However, the extra material on the bottoms of the ribs would get in the way when installing the wing in the fuselage in step #10.

To eliminate the problem, we have the spacers laser-cut attached to the bottoms of the ribs for about 1/4" at the leading and trailing edges, but cut free along the middle of the chord. In step #5 you cut the connections at the leading and trailing edges, and remove the spacers from the ribs.

Note also the note to make 2 wing panels, 1 right and 1 left, not two rights! You'd be surprised how many folks don't pay attention and make this classic modeling mistake!
