The following question came from Jeff Kemp: "jeffkemp@tpgi.com.au" jeffkemp@tpgi.com.au )

It says on your web site that the wing panels are bagged with the leading edges rough sanded. Could you please tell me how you go about finishing them?

From : Don Stackhouse

That depends on how obsessive you are about cosmetic issues. They're finished about the same as the edges on anyone else's bagged wings. You can fly them as-is, or if you want you can polish them up a little more with some fine sandpaper. It's purely cosmetic, I can assure you that the air doesn't care. Just be careful not to sand through the fiberglass.

Some folks rub some extra epoxy into the edge as a filler, before sanding, and some even mask off the leading edge and paint it, then wet-sand and rub out the paint afterwards to blend it into the painted-in-the-mylars surface behind the leading edge. Of course, those people might want to consider getting some professional counseling for their obssessive-compulsive disorder.

Many folks put some "flashy tape" or other reflective tape along the leading edge to improve visibility, such as the holographic film I put on on the edges of my own 2-meter Spectre in the photos on our website. Just be careful not to make it look so pretty that you're afraid to fly it. That would be unfair to the airplane!
