The following question came from Chris Hill chilli@snowy.net.au" chilli@snowy.net.au )

What happened to the tailless hlg you were hinting at last year?

From : Don Stackhouse

Nothing having to do with any particular problems with it, just a lot of other things that got in the way.

I moved to a farm. I'm still un-packing.

I've been trying to get the 2-meter Chrysalis finished (this week we finally finished the final details for the sailplane version!), and a number of other projects have been sitting idle in the meantime.

I still don't have a properly heated workshop here for doing epoxy work in the wintertime, which hasn't helped. Now that spring is arriving here, that should gradually become less of a problem.

The Reaper tailless HLG prototype is almost ready for the next round of flight tests, I just have to finish re-installing the radio. This latest iteration should fix the yaw/roll stability and control problem. However, since we first designed it, our wing and airfoil design capabilities have improved considerably, so I'm planning to take it through one more aerodynamic optimization before we freeze the design.

The concept is still very valid, it's just had to wait a bit while we got a few other things out of the way. From what we can tell, though, it should be a truly awesome model when it's finally finished!
