The following question came from Simon

I have just built a Topmodel CZ Diva 3M glider with a 4 servo wing. To tidy up the cables coming from the wing I hope to use a 9 pin 'D type' connecter which I have in my collection of bits and pieces. I hope to solder up the cables to simplify connection of the wing but unfortunately I just cannot seem to find a good wiring diagram for me to copy. Any ideas?

It's really pretty simple.

Each of your servos has three wires, typically black or brown on one edge, red in the middle, and white, yellow or orange (depending on the manufacturer) on the other edge of the cable.

The brown or black wire is the negative ground wire from the power bus on the receiver to the servo.

The red lead is the positive power supply lead to the servo.

The white, yellow or orange lead is the signal wire to the servo.

All of the negative (black or brown) wires go to a common ground bus strip on the receiver's PC board. You can therefore take all of the black or brown leads from the servos in your wing and connect them all to one single common pin in your connector.

The red positive supply leads are also common, so you can connect all of those to a second single common pin on your connector.

That leaves your 9-pin connector with 7 pins left.

The signal wire for each servo carries the position commands from the receiver to that servo, so obviously each servo must have its own individual pin for its signal wire. You will therefore need four pins on your connector for the four individual signal wires.

That leaves three pins to spare on your 9-pin connector. That's enough for two more flaperon servos, plus spoilers (since spoiler servos work together, you can run two spoilers on one common signal wire).
