I went out on Saturday to attempt my 1 hour LSF IV thermal task. My first launch with my Skyhawk at 10:00am resulted in a 42 minute flight, yet I couldn't seem to stay up for the final 18 minutes. I bumped the batteries and made another 34 minute flight. Two of my flying buddies launched to "bird dog" thermals for me but I was recharging my batteries so I pulled out my Monarch and first throw lasted for 22 minutes. I made one more flight with my Skyhawk that lasted 38 minutes as the thermal deteriorated quickly. I stayed with the thermal thinking it had justed drifted to the east. One of my flying buddies had much more altitude as he "punched out' to move quite a bit upwind into new air. I landed out and he ended up with a 1 1/4 hour flight. Since my batteries needed to be bumped, I launched my Monarch again and immediately hooked up to a huge thermal, which proved to be a piece of cake to fly for an hour and four minutes from a handlaunch and complete my LSF task. I flew the task with a 150 maH battery and my ESV still read 5.05 volts after landing. My Monarch "C" has two HS-60 servos and normally flies with a 110 maH battery in light conditions and 150 maH in windy conditions. BTW, at our altitude in SLC (~5,000 ASL) the Monarch is a superb performer and generally will out fly my Climmax until the wind exceeds 10 mph. Thanks for a great HLG and the "ongoing improvements", they are much appreciated!
