From: Ptmccleave Date: Sat, 10 Jan 1998 20:58:45 EST Subject: [RCSE] Monarch D-Lite Hey Gang, I got to go out and fly my new Monarch D-Lite for the first time today. Let me first set the stage. Conditions were heavy overcast, wind 8-10 MPH, 20 DEG F, 3:30 in the afternoon. It's been awhile since I owned a V-tail so of course like a dummy I set it up with the rudder control reversed. My first hand toss was a nice gentle level throw to check trim. The thing flew nice and level and luckily didn't start to turn until close to the ground. I gave it left, it went right, touched down no problem. A quick change of the servo connections and I was in business and ready to go. I made a few light warm up throws and everything seemed good to go on the glider. I then started throwing a little harder and could not believe how this thing was launching, and how long it was able to stay up in little to no lift conditions. I had several flights in the 45-60 second range. I was also amazed at how well this glider will penetrate. I can't wait to get out on good sunny day and really ring this baby out. My hat's off to the guys at DJ Aerotech for a great little plane. My D-Lite came in at just a shade under 10 oz.. Well enough for now. I need to get started installing radio gear in my new Mini Ellipse. Hopefully I can make initial test flights on it tomorrow. Yech!!!, My wife just informed that the forcast is for freezing rain tomorrow, but 55 DEG for Monday. I think I feel the Monday flu coming on fast.
