(long) Dear RCSE, Yesterday, upon returning to my house, I was greeted enthusiastically by my two daughters. One's three years old and the other a week short of one. Yesterday was my 35th birthday. Well, my wife did greet me nicely, ofcourse, but shot a strong glance to the corner of the door where a rather weird shaped box lay. 'Hapy birthday honey. So you were well prepared. Ordered a toy for yourself, AGAIN!' Were we married for too long or what. Anyway, after I was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful presents from my family, and the two little ones put to bed, I FINALLY started tackling the weird box. A little bit of self control can and WILL payoff in the long run. It turned out to be a bundle of five triangular boxes, each containing a Chrysalis HLG from DJAerotech. I have placed an order for them the minute it was anounced in RCSE. A club purchase of Omiya Tanbo Glider Club. And they have finally completed their long migratory flight to Japan, across the Pacific Ocean. The parts were packed rather tightly and neatly in the box. Small parts are placed in a plastic bag. For about US$40, you get laser cut parts cut from high quality balsa, and a truly comprehensive instruction booklet. I have read through this booklet, and it is like a guided tour through the whole process of Chrysalis construction. The guys at DJAerotech has done a truly remarkable job. I know for certain that the close to two months wait was worth it. I got what I wanted and probably much more. These 'butterflies' will soar the skies of the land of the rising sun. Come spring, and they will gaggle in the same thermal!
